Competitive Award Application Workshops 2017

Learn about and prepare applications for nationally-competitive awards such as Fulbright, NSF GRFP, Churchill, Rhodes, Schwarzman and many more!

Five workshops will be held on Wednesday afternoons from 4:00 - 5:00 in room 108 of the Hutton Honors College.   

Workshops will be complemented by activities in a Canvas course and guests will include students who have received awards and a representative from a national award agency.

Workshop dates and titles:

March 8 – Finding your Awards - You will learn about how to find awards based on your discipline, qualifications and interests. 

March 22 - Articulating Leadership and Engagement - This session will address how to articulate leadership in nationally-competitive award applications. It will also address how to convey maturity and adaptability and, toward that end, the importance of taking part in relevant and engaging activities on campus and in the community.

March 29 – Post graduate study in the UK, Ireland and China - Will address what is expected of students competing for highly selective award competitions. Presentation and Q & A with a representative of the Schwarzman Scholars Program.

April 12 – Creating your statement of purpose. - We will critique sample statements and there will be a discussion and Q & A with an award recipient. 

April 19 – Co-curricular Activities to Enhance Application - A discussion with graduating seniors.
